E-READER – Novel system for antibiotics detection in food

E-READER provides a simple and minimum time-consuming method for detection of antibiotics in foods. Combined with Zeulab microbial tests (Eclipse or Explorer) it provides an EU MRL compliant multi-residues analysis, detecting more than 30 substances in a single assay. The E-READER incubates the assay at 65ºC, controls assay time and automatically reads the results. E-READER allows for the best test performance and avoids interpretation mistakes.

E-READER can be used with milk and meat samples. After easy (meat) or no (milk) sample preparation, all that needs to be done is to add the sample and check the results 3 hours later. The assay is performed and ended automatically. Results are displayed numerically on the screen and saved in an internal memory to assure traceability.

ECLIPSE FARM 3G – Qualitative detection of antibiotic residues in cow, sheep, goat and buffalo milk

Milk is tested at the farm, dairy,  or in a laboratory for antibiotic residues resulting from treatment of animals having bacterial infections of the udder.  These pose a hazard to consumers, maybe causing allergic reactions and the development of bacterial resistance. They also have a negative effect on starter cultures of bacteria used for fermentation of milk products, causing financial losses in the dairy industry.

The ECLIPSE Farm 3G kit is a broad-range screening test for qualitative detection of antibiotics in milk. Based on the inhibition of microbial growth, the method has been validated following the ISO 13969:2003(E). Supplied in a single tubes format, each tube contains agar medium spread with Geobacillus stearothermophilus. When incubated at 65ºC, spores germinate and cell growth produces acid, changing the agar pH. pH variations changes of the agar colour from purple to yellowish. If milk samples contain inhibitors at concentrations higher than the detection limit, microorganisms will not grow and no colour change will be observed.
